European Funds
in Małopolska
“We invest European funds effectively, while making sure that they are allocated to well-thought-out investments and projects. Thanks to this, we are sure that the people of Małopolska will benefit from their results for years to come,” says Deputy Marshal of the Małopolska Region Witold Kozłowski.
Since Poland's accession to the European Union in 2004, Małopolska has become one of the main beneficiaries of European Funds. Thanks to them, the region is undergoing a dynamic transformation that is improving the daily lives of its residents. Over the course of two decades, Małopolska has benefited from some PLN 71 billion from the EU pool, which has enabled the implementation of more than 21,000 projects.
Road Infrastructure & Public Transport Modernization
One of the key areas of support is transport infrastructure. The construction of the S7 expressway between Moczydło and Miechów (subsidized by PLN 500 million) and the A4 highway between Targowisko and Tarnów (PLN 850 million) have significantly improved communication and safety. In cities such as Krakow, the modernization of public transportation has significantly improved the quality of travel, making public transportation more accessible to all residents.
Malopolska invests in health and education
European funds have also contributed to the development of the health and education sector. The new headquarters of the University Hospital in Kraków-Prokocim provides patients with top-quality medical care. Schools in Małopolska have also undergone a metamorphosis - energy-efficient buildings and modern teaching aids have improved students' learning comfort and educational results.
Protecting the Environment
Małopolska is also betting on ecology. The construction of the Eco-Incineration Plant in Kraków is an example of an investment that contributes to the sustainable development of the city. Thanks to modern technologies, Krakow effectively manages waste, minimizing its negative impact on the environment.
Benefits for the entire Region
European funds support not only large cities, but also smaller towns and cities. In Nowy Sącz, local schools were modernized, in Tarnow a new sports center was built, and in Oświęcim a historic market was restored and bicycle paths were created. These investments have provided residents with modern places for learning, recreation and community meetings.
Thanks to European funds, Małopolska is undergoing a dynamic evolution, improving the quality and comfort of life for residents throughout the region. In the coming years, funds will continue to be allocated to the development of key areas.
